Welcome to our Department

In Design Technology, you will be given the opportunity to design and make a wide range of quality products by five very experienced specialist teachers.

What will I learn?

	In Year 7: How to use tools and equipment safely. How to design and make products for myself. How to use Computer Aided Design (CAD).
	In Year 8: How to build on existing skills and knowledge to design and make quality products for myself and other people. How to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) in all specialist areas.
	In Year 9: I will be given the opportunity to use industrial standard tools and equipment safely and independently. I will be encouraged to apply previous skills and knowledge to make quality products. How to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) to design and make quality products.

What happens in Year 10 and Year 11?

I will be given the opportunity to specialise in one area of Design Technology and study it at GCSE level.

GCSE GRAPHIC PRODUCTS - OCR Exam Board. Awaiting content
GCSE RESISTANT MATERIALS - OCR Exam Board. During this course students use a variety of materials such as wood, metal and plastics to design and make a range of products both individually and as part of a team. The final project which consists of a folder of design work and a made artefact is worth 60% of the GCSE grade.
