From Luis Gomez”s parents to Ms Martinez Rivera

Dear Elnora and teachers at Ruffwood School,

Hello to everyone. We are Luis’ parents the Spanish boy who participated in the exchange with Paul Mutch. It was a satisfying experience. They were few days but we believe it was sufficient. In a very short time we have seen a great exchange of information and experiences in which children from other cultures have shaped their opinions about what we are like and how we live. They have concluded that we are not that different. In some instances there were things that united us more than distance us. For example in the evening of the project presentation in Ortigueira where bagpipe players played music similar to that heard in Scotland. This is of course in contrast to the usual image of Spain of Flamenco and guitars.

The whole experience was great both for the children and the parents. The friendships that we have seen grow between our children is one that we hope will continue. Paul Mutch, who stayed with us, was very well behaved and polite and he will always be welcomed in our home.

From our part we wish to congratulate you and everyone who helped in making, this educationally important exchange, such a success. You should feel proud of your effort in the knowledge that you are helping in the development of good people for the future.

You should be very proud of it and we hope you will be rewarded in some manner. Apart from the success of the exchange , we have had a wonderful time both teachers and pupils. The comments have all been excellent and we have received thanks both in writing and verbally from the parents and the pupils.They all wish to repeat the experience.
